Fluttering in the Breeze

A host of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

William Wordsworth

Warm days have enticed me out into the garden.
There is much work to be done after Old Man Winters visit.
What joy it is to see a bit of color popping up here and there.

My garden may not be a masterpiece, but it does feed my soul.

How appropriate that today's page on my
Mary Engelbreit desk calendar features daffodils.

  4. Oh my...I'll have to live by your pictures for now as we still have snow and cold north winds blowing. I did notice my pussy willow shrub is starting to bud out! That's been my first sign of spring. We have a ways to go.

  12. I also look forward to puttering in my graden again when our weather warms up! Meanwhile I am having an early preview of a hot and steamy summer here in OZ. Sydney is absolutely lovely and I'm enjoying all the sights.

  13. Oh, Sarah...everyone is so awaiting spring and I am dreading it. Out here in West Texas, we have a lot of wind in the spring. The wind, in turns, brings sand. Sandstorms here are very common during spring.
I would rather skip spring and fall right into summer. :))

  15. Hello Sarah,
yes, this is what a garden does, it feeds the soul. That your garden is not a masterpiece will please all animals which live in this garden. It is a little paradise.

  17. That Mr Wordsworth certainly has a way with words!
Daffodils were my Fathers favourite flower and so in his memory each spring my garden is a sea of dancing yellow daffs of every size and shade.

  20. Hi Sarah...Look at those Daffodils...they are gorgeous! Are they coming up yet in your area? It's been so warm this past week...like in the 80's several days. I bought tomatoes yesterday, and HiHoney and I readied two spots with fresh topsoil. I'll plant them in a few days....the mesquite say Don't DoIt Yet! When they bloom it's usually pretty safe to plant without fear of freeze. I believe in Old Mother Nature Tips...so I'll wait to pot and plant flowers.

Can you believe all the flowers and plants in the Garden Centers. I can hardly wait for the last freeze of the year...I probably won't wait...I'll just cover everything and watch the weather channel alot! Have a wonderful week planning your Spring Garden!

  28. In downtown San Francisco, there's a street called Maiden Lane, right off Union Square. They used to cover it with daffodils for Easter Week. I loved it as a child. SF stopped doing it for a while because of vandals. Then, started up again, years later. I haven't been back for a long time. I suspect the budget crunch has put a halt to it.

Still, I shall be in love with the common yellow daffodil forever.

  36. Love daffodils. I had an abundance at my last house. The part of this poem that says, much work to be done, is exactly how I feel. Can't believe how the weeds have taken over in my beds. Got to get out my gardening gloves!

  40. Oh Sarah Sweetie...
What a beautiful share this was tonight. I so enjoyed seeing the beautiful golden yellow daffodils wave hello to Spring in the breeze. Aren't they just like a ballet performance? All in sequence, and in tune to the music. I love it.

I especially love the little girls on the calendar. So cute. Love the little pigtails and the straw hat.

Such a beautiful share sweet one. Thank you for taking me along this evening. I so enjoyed my stroll.

Many hugs and much love, Sherry

Thank you for your sweet comment a couple of days ago. the white teapot with the bird on top has no markings on the bottom of it but I bought it at Winners(Canada)-TJMAXX in the U.S.
I seem to think the box said it was made in England but I am not positive.I have seen it on a few other blogs though so it must be around somewhere. It was only $15.I hope this helps a little bit.

    Take care,
    Carolyn

  44. I love daffodils. I remember when my son was 5 (he is now 27) and he loved flowers. Especially daffodils. We planted some bulbs & he could hardly wait for spring to see the flowers. Then one day they finally bloomed. He was ecstatic. And then the neighbor boy picked the flower one day. My boy was crushed. Too bad he still doesn't love flowers. But I do.
