Pink Saturday Eggstravaganza

The egg is the symbol of fertility

and rebirth of the earth in springtime.

With Easter just a week away and spring in the air, I decided a little eggstravaganza was appropriate for today. You can click on the mosaic to enlarge to see the details of these hand painted eggs. Many years ago my mother started me off on the road to this collection of hand decorated eggs that I bring out each Easter season. For many years, my mother would give her children and grandchildren one of these china eggs each Easter that one of her friends had hand painted. Then as I saw other hand painted eggs that caught my attention I would add to my little nest. Each of the eggs in the individual egg stands were painted by a local artist in the 1990s.

Is that my blue & white rabbit I see in the background?
Wait, no mine's sitting on the mantlepiece in the library, that must be his brother in your pix.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

  9. These are beautiful! What an amazing collection! Thank you Sarah, for your sweet comment on the smocked dresses I adore -- however, I do want to let you know that I only hunted them down -- I didn't smock them myself - so I deserve no credit for that -- only mutual enjoyment and admiration of someone's talent.

  17. What a gorgeous collection. I have quite a few hand painted eggs, but nothing in comparison. I think the gold on the ones in the individual stands is what makes them so eggceptional - LOL!

  21. Sarah, your collection is special. I started egg collections for my children 34 and 32 years ago, but theirs are not hand painted ones. Maybe I should have been more selective. Maybe next year, I'll find just the right eggs.

  22. Beautiful egg collection and neat story about how your collection started. I really appreciate the artistic talent that it takes to create such detail on a small canvas like the egg. Treasures...all.

  32. Sarah, just as I see one of the eggs that I think is my favorite, I see another I love as much! :-) You have a fabulous collection there, and how neat that your mother started you on this.

My current favorite egg is the one in the bottom right corner. Lovely!

My MIL has given us some neat eggs over the years, too, and I love them so much. Easter is probably my favorite holiday next to Christmas. It's a toss up.

If you get a chance, please email me. I have something I want to ask you. I would email you, but I am unable to email with my computer because the "geeks" didn't install a default email thingy where I can click and email.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)
